"Although I am not currently a caregiver or parent, I think this information will be incredibly helpful in preparing me for that possibility. I have a better understanding of how my actions/inaction and words, whether positive or negative, significantly impact the brain of a child. Because I do not wish increase my future child's risk of negative outcomes later in their life, I will try my best to nurture them in a healthy way, focusing on discipline rather than punishment and limiting their exposure to experiences that cause toxic stress."
- Feedback from a ParentABLE On-Demand Learner
"I learned a lot about how to be a better parent, especially when I start raising my own little ones in the future. I see myself being a better father than mine was for me by being authoritative and not authoritarian. I know now how to better grow with and raise my current teenager whom I adopted into a productive young man. I'll try to do a better job with my relationship with my future kids and family and listen to what they need and follow their leads. I will use what I learned from this course to be a better father and partner for my family."
- Feedback from a ParentABLE On-Demand Learner
"This course is successful at normalizing parenting education in a digestible and interactive way. The lessons offer reliable tools that require respecting the child to foster their healthy development, a method of parenting that I am sad to say is not yet common practice. This type of parenting will offer children the environment they need to grow up with resilience so that they may combat life's inevitable difficulties. I believe in the course's message of building up the capabilities of parents because I think it reduces the likelihood that children will feel the impacts of ACEs later in their life. The less children are exposed to ACEs, the more we strengthen them, and our society as a whole, against their damaging effects.
This course is fantastic and should be taken by everyone!"
- Feedback from a ParentABLE On-Demand Learner
"Honestly, all aspects of this course have been very helpful. It taught me healthy ways of caring for children. I feel that the whole course has given an amazing understanding and overview about how to be a nurturing, safe and healthy parent or caregiver. Everyone who participates in this course will definitely benefit from and become better caretakers and parents by improving their skills to promote healthy and safe environments for children to be raised in."
- Feedback from a ParentABLE On-Demand Learner
"In this course I learned how to care for others by leading with empathy, patience, and love. I learned that I need to listen to my children with my full attention, encourage them through challenges, and celebrate their victories, big and small. I will offer help without waiting to be asked and use my skills to support not only my family but also friends and neighbors. I will care for myself so I can model balance, kindness, and strength. Every day, I will choose compassion and teach it through my actions."
